Business Education Council - Teen Esteem The Lunch Bunch Program
Each year, Youth University, in conjunction with the Business Education Council of Niagara, supports a unique, school-based program called ‘Teen Esteem’. The Teen Esteem program offers a series of 4 school-based lunch sessions to teens in grades 6-8, at a time when their self-esteem is most vulnerable. Each lunch session is led by Brock student volunteers, and involved Brock students, faculty, and staff who have experiences to share about their own career and life choices. The 4 sessions culminate with an event held at Brock University where session leaders and other volunteers present hands-on career-based activities to the participants and answer questions about education and career possibilities.
Teen Esteem is designed to:

  • Present positive role models;
  • Promote school retention and career planning;
  • Broaden career horizons;
  • Foster self-esteem and confidence as career choosers, goal setters, decision-makers and problem solvers.

Each year Youth University recruits faculty, staff and students from the Brock Community to speak at one of the Teen Esteem sessions. For more information on how to get involved for one or more session please call (906) 688-5550 ext. 3120 or email

Through this internet based project, Youth University Summer Enrichment Camps are assisting The American Camp Association, The Association of Camp Nurses, The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Ohio State University in collecting valuable information about health at camp. The goal of this 5 year study is to enhance the quality of the camp experience by monitoring the trends in camper and staff health.
