Chantal Hebert, national affairs columnist for the Toronto Star, will be the guest speaker for
the 2006 D. G. Willmot Distinguished Lecture Series, sponsored by the Faculty of Business at Brock
University. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sean O'Sullivan
Theatre. A reception will follow the presentation.
Hebert, who is also a guest columnist with Montreal's Le Devoir and a regular commentator on
CBC's The National's weekly At Issue panel, will present a lecture entitled "A Federal Progress
Report."
As the federal Conservatives approach their first year in office, how is Prime Minister Stephen Harper
faring? Can a disunited left prevent the Conservatives from assuming the role of Canada's natural
governing party? What is the progress of the Liberal leadership race? Hebert will share her thoughts on
these points as well as on the status of the Medicare debate.
