 Students-at-Risk Notification Procedures:

The following is a formalization of the notification procedures to be followed whenever a student has been banned from campus. Should you have any questions about these processes, please contact Kim Meade, Associate Vice President, Student Services.

Interim Ban (Student is not permitted to be on Campus at any time pending further investigation and/or the outcomes of a University Discipline Hearing)

Imposed by: Associate Vice President Student Services – based upon the recommendations of the Students-at-Risk Case Team. In these instances, the Dean, and Associate Dean of the student’s academic major will be notified by the Manager, Student Rights and Responsibilities or their designate. In addition, the Clinical Director of Student Health Services and Medical Director of Student Health Services  will be notified, as will the Manager/Director of Residences if the student lives in Residence. It is the responsibility of the Dean/Associate Dean/Directors to disseminate this confidential information to those they feel should be made aware.

**NOTE** If the student is a Graduate Student, both the Dean and Director of Graduate Studies should also be notified and the Director of Graduate Studies will inform the Graduate Program Director immediately.

Imposed by: Campus Security Services (i.e. a student poses an imminent danger to campus). In these instances, the Dean, and Associate Dean of the student’s academic major as well as the Registrar will be notified by the Director of Campus Security or their designate.

**NOTE** If the student is a Graduate Student, both the Dean and Director of Graduate Studies should also be notified, and the Director of Graduate Studies will inform the Graduate Program Director immediately.

Suspension/Involuntary Withdrawal
Imposed by: Associate Vice President Student Services – based upon the recommendations of either the University Discipline Panel or the Students-at-Risk Case Team. In these instances, the Dean, and Associate Dean of the student’s academic major as well as the Registrar will be notified by the Manager, Student Rights and Responsibilities or their designate.

**NOTE** If the student is a Graduate Student, both the Dean and Director of Graduate Studies should also be notified, and the Director of Graduate Studies will inform the Graduate Program Director immediately.

If there is a Court-Ordered Ban from Campus (ie – student is not to attend University Premises), Campus Security Services will normally be notified. Such a ban will normally lead to a University-imposed ban (in consultation with CSS, Vice Provost, AVPSS and Manager, Student Rights and Responsibilities). Based on the level of risk, faculties and/or departments may be notified per the aforementioned processes.
