Student Community Outreach
On September 16th, 2011 the 3rd Annual VolunteerFEST was held in Jubilee Courtyard with just under 40 community agencies in need of volunteer present. VolunteerFEST was the perfect opportunity for students, staff and faculty alike looking for ways to get involved in the community and make a meaningful difference. New to VolunteerFEST this year was a Volunteer Zone which allowed students to drop-in and help work on local and international charitable projects. The Volunteer Zone housed both a milk bag crocheting project which aimed to create milk bag mats to be sent to Haiti and a quilt-making project which aimed to create quilts for YWCA Niagara with the help of Niagara Heritage Quilters’ Guild volunteers. Both projects were successful! With 163 Passport swipes, it is easy to see how well-received this year’s VolunteerFEST really was!
