Brock University is excited and proud that Soirée this year served as the launch event leading into a wekend of commemoration activities throughout the Niagara Region related to the War of 1812 and General Brock's herosim in the year of its 200th anniversary at his namesake institution.

Proceeds from the 2012 General Brock's October Soirée will add to the $250,000 already raised in support for scholarships for the talented students of the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

This coin features Major-General Sir Isaac Brock against an intricately engraved background comprised of the words “The War of 1812” in both English and French. Artist Bonnie  Ross used various image sources of Brock to design the ideal image. Also featured in the design is the engraved and painted Government of Canada War of 1812 logo: it is composed of stylistic 1812 typography encompassed by a stylized maple leaf with ecru swords crossing behind it.
