My research broadly concerns environmental governance and social-ecological systems. I am primarily interested in advancing knowledge related to novel governance strategies and understanding associated processes and phenomena. Concepts central to this work include: adaptive co-management, adaptive capacity, adaptation, community-based management, institutions, integrated resource management, social capital, social learning, resilience, and vulnerability. I undertake theoretical, participatory and practical inquires and frequently collaborate with graduate students and colleagues. The focus of current research concerns water governance in Canada and source water governance in First Nation communities.
