Trans/media/formations Series
The Transmedia Research Network is hosting a series of three invited speakers and roundtable debates focused on the social and cultural implications of transmedia texts and practices from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Scheduled for January to March 2013, all presentations and events are free and open to the public. Interested faculty, students and media practitioners throughout the Niagara region are welcome to attend. The series is sponsored by the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film, the Council for Research in the Social Sciences (CRISS) at Brock University, and other contributing departments.

Greig de Peuter is Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. He is the coauthor, with Nick Dyer-Witheford, of Games of Empire: Global Capitalism and Video Games (University of Minnesota Press), and co-editor, with Mark Cote and Richard Day, of Utopian Pedagogy: Radical Experiments Against Neoliberal Globalization (University of Toronto Press). He is currently collaborating with Enda Brophy and Nicole Cohen on a SSHRC funded research project entitled 'A Flexible Workforces Respond to the Creative Economy: The Recomposition of Labour Politics in an Age of Precarity'. He is the cofounder of Toronto School of Creativity & Inquiry, an autonomous education project.

Lina Srivastava, Principal of Lina Srivastava Consulting LLC and creator of the Transmedia Activism framework, focuses on employing strategy, innovation and media engagement to create social change. She writes the site Strategy for Social Change Initiatives and is the coauthor of the site Modeling Global Change. The former Executive Director of Kids with Cameras, and the past Interim Executive Director of the Association of Video and Filmmakers, she has provided strategic support to the Resist Network, films such as Born into Brothels and The Devil Came on Horseback, and a wide-ranging group of organizations dedicated to social change. Trained as an attorney at New York University School of Law, Lina is based in New York, New York.
