In June, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice students visited Kingston Penitentiary. They heard from former Corrections officers as they toured the prison, which was built in the 1800s. The students learned about the history of prison labour in Canada, and are shown here sitting on a staircase built by inmates using limestone from the quarry.

Nicole Luke in the Department of Applied Disability Studies recently partnered with Pathstone Mental Health, which offers a range of services tailored to children, youth and families in Niagara, to study the use of virtual reality in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) counselling sessions for children and adolescents. At the annual Mapping the New Knowledges conference hosted by Brock’s Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, Psychology PhD student Oya Pakkal was honoured with the Marilyn Rose Graduate Leadership Award, which recognizes work and leadership in developing and/or enhancing graduate studies and the graduate student experience for students at Brock University.
