Peter Kormos Memorial Bursary

The Centre for Labour Studies has established the Peter Kormos
Memorial Bursary in memory of longtime Welland NDP MPP Peter Kormos.

Kormos was a warrior for working-class people and an NDP stalwart.
During his career, he was a voice for the marginalized and promoted
solidarity in communities, on picket lines, in the legislature, and in
the media. He felt strongly that workers' struggles for dignity and
respect were critical to building a more just and equitable society.
He will be sorely missed, not only here in Niagara, but across the
province.

To honour his work and create a living tribute, the Peter Kormos
Memorial Bursary was established in collaboration with Welland NDP MP
Malcolm Allen. In keeping with Kormos' political commitments, the
award will benefit the university's Labour Studies students who are in
financial need and who have a demonstrated commitment to social
justice activism.
