Jennifer Ajandi is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, in the Department of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education. Dissertation examines the persistence of single mothers in education, specifically in terms of experiencing racism, colonialism, sexism, heterosexism, classism, etc., using feminist, autoethnographic, and anti-colonial methodologies. Research and teaching focus on issues of marginalization; processes of social exclusion and inclusion, using a social justice framework. An example of this work is exploring family structures headed by a parent/parents who identify as queer and how these families experience heterosexism.
