Collaborative Studies - Child and Youth Worker

This program is designed for those who want to become Child and Youth Workers upon completion of their studies.  It is available to Child and Youth Studies majors who maintain a 70% average in their courses.

About the program

Are you interested in a career as a Child and Youth Worker? Brock University and Durham College in Oshawa have worked together to develop the Collaborative Study - Child and Youth Worker program.  In just five years, students in this program earn both a twenty-credit Honours degree from Brock University and a Child and Youth Worker diploma from Durham college, something that takes seven years to complete when done consecutively.  Potential employment opportunities include

  • residential treatment centres
  • children's mental health centres
  • group homes
  • educational services (boards of education)
  • day treatment centres
  • and social service agencies

Students apply to the collaborative program at the end of their first successful year of study at Brock. A minimum 70% average is required to be considered for admission, but please note that reaching this minimum does not guarantee acceptance.
