Distinct and Diverse Communities (Aboriginal Stream)

This program is designed for those who want to work in Aboriginal communities (both on- and off-reserves).  It is available to all individuals, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal who maintain a 70% average in their studies. 

About the Program

You can now major in Distinct and Diverse Communities and focus your studies on issues of concern to Aboriginal communities in the province of Ontario.  We have collaborated with both the Anishinabek Educational Institute and Sault College to develop a collaborative program that allows you to complete both a four-year degree at Brock, and a two-year college diploma at one of those institutions in only four years (something that would typically take six if done consecutively). 

Possible Careers

You may work in private, governmental, and Native programs in the areas of

• education
• addictions
• outreach
• family services
• social welfare

When applying to Brock, you should indicate Distinct and Diverse Communities as your major.  You are strongly advised to contact Jo Stewart, the coordinator of this program, for advice about course selections when you are granted admission to the program.
