Background
SLIC’s key goal is to be a catalyst for social change. Project SEED is one of the ways we do this.
Project SEED is a SLIC-sponsored social innovation incubator that promotes the exploration of social change strategies by young entrepreneurs and leaders in the Brock community. This program was pilotted in 2011-12 and was well supported by student leaders, mentors, and donors alike.
Project SEED recipients recieve
• grant amounts of up $600.00 based on scope, outcome and evaluation
• guaranteed workspace in SLIC
• individual discount for Foundations in Leadership Series
• opportunities to connect with mentorship triad (community mentor
& staff mentor) throughout the year
• sponsorship to attend the Student Leader Summit
• opportunity to meet monthly with SLIC staff advisor
• recognition on experience plus transcript
What is involved for students in Project SEED?
• attend and participate in Project SEED meetings and events as necessary
• provide regular updates to lead partners of Project SEED
• fully engage in the mentorship process
• provide regular updates to lead partners of Project SEED
• provide an accurate budget outlining sources of funding and submit all receipts to administrators complete and on-time
• plant, sow and grow the seed of social change in the Brock and Niagara community
