Peer Note Takers

An approved accommodation may be access to a peer note taker. SSWD facilitates a system of contracting students to provide copies of their notes for courses in which they are already enrolled. These students receive a small honorarium for their time. Both the note taker and the student requiring these notes are anonymous.

The Peer Note Taking system is not a guaranteed accommodation for students. Instructors can reduce the need for peer note takers by providing student access to power point slides and other notes used in a course.

Computerized Note Takers

Computerized Note Takers are external persons hired by SSWD to record lecture notes. This is usually required for students with a hearing impairment or physical disability that impairs their ability to take any substantial notes for themselves.
