Artist-Led Workshop: Drawing Water

Artists/Instructors: Gautam Garoo and Patrick Mahon
Continuing our weekend of Cultural Celebrations, Artists Gautam Garoo and Patrick Mahon (from our current exhibition The Source: Rethinking Water Through Contemporary Art) will lead this engaging community-based project. Participants will learn to “draw water.” through direct instruction as well as creative exploration. Working outside in proximity to the Twelve (mile creek), as well as inside the gallery in response to the exhibition, the artists will assist participants in relating their interest in water and local water resources with their interest in drawing as a means of communication and expression. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in story-telling and record their “water memories.” The workshop will culminate in the temporary display of student drawings, and the playing of sound recordings of their reflections on water.
