SCULPTURE STUDIO (ages 18+)
Instructor: Danielle Woltz

Experiment with sculpting “in the round” as you use paper, cardboard and plaster bandages. Then explore low-relief sculpture as you create a panel with sculptamold compound. Projects will also encourage experimentation and use of everyday household materials.

Summer Arts for Adults

STILL LIFE: Modern and Traditional Approaches
Instructor: Jana Simms-Bergsma

Examine traditional, modern and contemporary interpretations of still life as you work with paint, pastels, collage and mixed media. Take inspiration from artists like Paul Cezanne and Claude Monet and then examine the work of contemporary photographer Laura Letinsky, on display in the gallery. Working from photographs and still life objects, explore your favourite influences as you work with paint, pastels, collage and mixed media under the guidance of a professional artist.
Participants supply their own lunch.
Class size is limited to 8 participants.

THE ART OF TEXTILES: Dyeing, Patterning & Sewing

Instructor: Melissa Smith

Learn to use natural dyes and hand-embellish a fashionable pashmina or shrug as you experiment with simple machine-sewing, hand-sewing, applique and embroidery techniques. Create a bohemian fashion accessory as you further explore these techniques to make your choice of headband or cuff bracelet. Learn the basics of pattern-making using an existing garment (optional) and your own measurements to create your choice of summery blouse or skirt.

PRINTMAKING AND MODERN COLLAGE
Instructor: Danielle Woltz

Experiment and explore your creativity while mixing modern collage techniques with printmaking. Work with linoleum to carve a unique printing block and learn to make reusable stamps. Create monoprints and use household items as printing objects to enhance your artwork.
