Living Learning Communities
A Living Learning Community (LLC) is the integration of students who share similar interests (such as an academic subject or non-academic area of interest) into a residence community with intensive programming and support from various areas within the institution. Brock launched its Living Learning Communities two years ago and are excited to expand the program and offer a variety of LLCs for 2013-2014. The LLCs include:
Accounting
This is an "academic cluster" of students all in the accounting program who would like to live together on campus. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with faculty, staff, community partners and student leaders in this academic area of focus and can use one another as a support network. Regular group study sessions will also be facilitated for this community.
Residence Style: TBD*
Arts House
The Arts House LLC is open to students in all faculties who have a passion for the arts (music, visual arts, film, drama, etc.) and wish to live in a community with like-minded people. These students will have the opportunity to network with other artists, showcase their skills, and learn about opportunities in our local community. The Niagara region is continuing to develop as a cultural hub with the development of the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and we encourage you to come and leave your creative stamp.

Badger Den
No matter which team you are playing on, this LLC will give you access to support members to help program for your needs around your athletics. Spend some time with teammates and other athletes as you develop a well-rounded lifestyle away from practice and learn how to be a successful athlete at a varsity level while still accomplishing your academic and personal pursuits.
Residence Style: TBD*
Business
This academic LLC is open to students in the Goodman School of Business (BBA program) who are interested in working in the business world now or in years to come. Students in this community will have support and direction available to them from student leaders in this area of focus, faculty and others in our local community. Academic support and creating a small business are some ways this community has developed in the past and with student drive can continue to excel to even more areas.
Residence Style: TBD*
Concurrent Education
This is an "academic cluster" of students all in Concurrent Education who would like to live together on campus. Events will be geared toward their needs and this community will also offer participants the chance to engage with faculty and student leaders in this area of focus and can use one another as a support network. Regular study session will also be facilitated for this community.

Fitness Fans and Healthy Plans
This LLC offers students from all faculties the opportunity to meet some fitness partners as well as motivators for healthy eating. Motivation will be the key to success in this LLC as the best way to stay healthy is to stay active. With the support of Student Health Services and Recreation services, students will be on the right track to healthy living. Setting and maintaining healthy living goals will truly lead to a feeling of accomplishment and the end of the year.

Volunteerism & Leadership
This LLC is open to students in all faculties who are interested in developing their leadership skills and also getting out into our local community to participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities. This will help ease the transition to the St. Catharines area, help students connect to the local community and develop strong skills to use throughout your time at Brock and beyond!

Applications for the 2013-2014 academic year are now open!
If you are interested in applying for an LLC and don’t see one that is of interest to you consider applying anyway! By indicating your major we will automatically consider you for an Academic community. Additionally, if you indicate “other” in the drop down boxes we will consider those LLCs if there is enough interest.
*Living Learning Community locations are determined every year by interest. Once the application process has closed, applications will be reviewed and the majority of people interested in specific LLCs communities will determine the location of the community. Students who apply will be contacted to determine interest once the community has been assigned.
Please note: This is a separate application from the on-line application to live in residence. The deadline to apply for our Living Learning Communities was by 8:00am on Monday, June 3, 2013 in order to be considered for a spot in one of our LLCs. If you apply after this deadline, your application will be kept and added to our waiting list. By applying to be part of our LLCs, this will be considered your main residence preference (over living in an alcohol-free area, style of residence or with a chosen roommate unless your roommate has applied for the exact same LLC, etc.). On the LLC application you will also notice that you can rank the LLCs in your preferred order if you would be interested in applying to more than one LLC (or not rank LLCs you are not interested in living in).
There is no additional cost to living in an LLC.
