Research Services - Helping Brock's Researchers Innovate, Collaborate and Excel

Research Financial Administration

Helping You Budget Your Research Funding
and Use it Wisely

The administration of research projects means many responsibilities for the Principal Investigator. They are ultimately the person responsible for the management of their grant or contract. The Office of Research Services' Financial staff are here to assist and advise you on fulfilling these critical responsibilities.

View the Managing Your Finances pages to find Tri-council guidelines on the roles and responsibilities of researchers, links to major granting agencies with information on eligible/ineligible expenses, and review Brock's policy on over-expenditure of research accounts. The expense code table (unique to research accounts), and information about cheque requisitions, purchase orders, travel claims, travel advances, salaries and wages, and payments made to non-residents can be found at Expense Claim Regulations and Forms.

Being fiscally responsible entails checking your monthly account statements for errors or omissions. Understanding Your Account Statement explains how to read your statement and includes a list of the types of transactions you will see on your account.
