Brock Research Celebration 2014
The second annual Brock Research Celebration will be held on Tuesday, February 25th in the Guernsey Market. The Brock Research Celebration will highlight the range of research excellence at Brock.
Information for Presenters
We ask that posters be on display for the day, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to maximize the number of Brock community members who will be able to view your work. The posters will be displayed around the perimeter of the Guernsey Market. We request that presenters stand by their poster during the poster session scheduled from 2:30-4:30 to speak with celebration attendees.
Poster set-up is scheduled between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the celebration. Posters are to be mounted on the poster boards with the thumb tacks provided. Please check in with the ORS representative who will be available in the Guernsey Market during the day starting at 8:00 a.m. If you wish, you may submit your printed poster to us at the Office of Research Services (MC D250A) by Monday, February 24th, and we will mount the poster for you in the Guernsey Market Tuesday morning.
Poster Preparation Guidelines
Poster Dimensions: Posters should be no larger than 42 inches by 48 inches (landscape or portrait format). We recommend printing on regular 20 lb. bond.
Poster Printing: If you would like ORS to print your poster for you, please submit your electronic file in one of the formats listed below to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Tuesday, February 11th. If you wish to have your poster printed yourself, please submit your file online or save your poster to a memory stick and bring it to the 5th foor of the library. The library typically needs 3-4 days for these print jobs. Their instructions for large-scale printing are available on their website.
File formats accepted for printing: JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), Microsoft Publisher (.pub), GIF (.gif), Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx, .rtf), TIFF (.tif), Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), Postscript (.ps), Adobe Photoshop (.psd), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Adobe Illustrator (.pdf, .ai, .art), Fireworks (.png).
QR Codes: If you would like to include a link to your research group's webpage or other website on your poster, a QR code can be used. A QR code generator creates a two-dimensional bar code which can be scanned by cell phones to link directly to a specific web page. You can easily generate a QR code online at sites such as goqr.me -- simply insert your web page URL to generate a QR code, then save the generated image file and insert it into your poster.
Book Display: We will also provide a table for displaying books written by Brock authors. A limited selection of books is being loaned to us by the Campus Store. If you wish to lend a copy of your book for display, please let us know.
The first annual Research Celebration was held February 12, 2013 to celebrate research activity and achievement at Brock.
