A. Grodigital is a new company, designing interactive children’s books, which provide feedback to the parent, teacher and the child. Professor Tony DiPetta is a teacher and researcher in the faculty of education, his research interests lie in information and communication technology and its application in teaching and learning.
Q. What is the project about?
A. The partnership is developing a proprietary digital learning technology that provides instant feedback on a child’s reading ability. The technology is embedded in an interactive story telling environment, where the stories go beyond the words in the text; the story comes to life by allowing children to talk with characters and interact with objects. Moreover, the technology provides children and parents with instant feedback on reading ability, and helps with unfamiliar words and/or correcting mispronunciations.
Q. How does this collaboration help the company?
A. GroDigital’s new technology gives it a competitive edge, by providing it with a reading system will assess children’s reading ability based on word recognition, vocabulary, phonological awareness, fluency and comprehension. Parents and teachers are also able to track the child’s progress and better understand areas that need improvement.
