Registration Guide and Timetable2012-2013 Fall/Winter

Requirements

Program Requirements

Every teaching department/centre establishes and maintains lists of approved course combinations which make up "programs" (i.e., BA in Film Studies). This list of approved courses is known as the requirements of a program. Program requirements are listed in the Undergraduate Calendar, where they are broken down by year of study. Locate your program requirements to determine which courses you need to register for.

For returning students, your program is listed in the registration system, under the “Status of Undergraduate Degree” screen, under the heading Program of Study.

Requirements Explained

Degree types/options available

There are different types of Bachelor degrees offered at Brock. Not every type is available in each program.

Honours degree A 20 credit (four year) program, in which a minimum 70 per cent major average and a minimum 60 per cent non major  average is required.
Non-honours / With a Major degree A 20 credit (four year) program, in which a minimum 60 per cent major average and a minimum 60 per cent overall average is required.
Three year degree A 15 credit (three year) program, in which a minimum 60 per cent major average and a minimum 60 per cent overall average is required.

More detailed information on degree types is available in the Undergraduate Calendar.

Course Types

Three main course types are found in your program requirements:

Major-specific credits Credits related to, but not necessarily the same as, your major. Sometimes they are course specific (i.e., COSC 1P02), and sometimes they are subject and/or year-specific (i.e., two ECON credits numbered 2(alpha)90 or above).
Context credits Mandatory for every undergraduate degree. In some cases, a context credit is covered through the major specific credits. The list of approved context credits is available.
Elective credits Credits of your choice, given that you fulfil the prerequisites, co-requisites and/or restrictions of the course(s).
