Course Title Art in Revolution: Nineteenth-Century Visual Culture
Description Role and function of art and visual culture within the paradigm shifts of the modern world, its relation to politics, social, cultural and technological change. Principal movements with origins in the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution; Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism and Postimpressionism.
Course Format Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week.
Prerequisite(s) VISA 1Q98 (minimum 60 percent) and 1Q99 (minimum 60 percent), INTC 1F90 or permission of the instructor.
