Course Title	Ambiguities of Greatness: The United States 1865 to the Present
Description	United States history since the Civil War. Emphasis on Reconstruction, industrialization, immigration, labour and reform, imperialism and the world wars, the Great Depression, Cold War, consumer culture, race and gender, social protest and popular culture.
Course Format	Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week.
Restrictions	open to HIST (single or combined), HIST (Honours)/BEd (Intermediate/Senior) majors and minors until date specified in Registration guide.
