Course Title Glory and Despair: The United States 1607-1865
Description United States history and culture from earliest European settlement in North America to the Civil War. Topics include early contact between Europeans and Native Americans, the developing cultures of colonial America, slavery, the American Revolution, the United States Constitution, Jeffersonian America, Jacksonian Democracy, 19th-century social reform, Manifest Destiny and causes of the Civil War.
Course Format Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week.
Restrictions open to HIST (single or combined), HIST (Honours)/BEd (Intermediate/Senior) majors and minors until date specified in Registration guide.
