Brock Regalia and Honour Cords
Brock regalia is loaned out to graduands at no charge. They are issued before the ceremony and must be returned immediately following the ceremony. Students failing to return regalia will be charged a recovery fee.
Brock’s graduates wear aegean blue gowns and, after being admitted to their degrees, don distinctive hoods which identify them as graduates of our University. Made of scarlet viyella, the hoods are lined with navy blue and gold material. Three bars of navy blue are set against the gold in a manner that suggests a dress uniform that might have been worn by General Brock.
Honour cords are worn by graduands meeting the following criteria:
• Graduands who have completed a 20 credit honours program with first-class honours standing, which requires a minimum 80 percent average in all major credits and a minimum of 70 percent in the remaining credits. A transfer student must have completed a minimum of five credits at Brock University, including all departmental honours requirements for year four and have maintained a minimum 75 percent overall average and a minimum 80 percent major average (based on Brock courses only).
• Graduands who have completed the approved 15 credit pass degree or 20 credit non-honours degree with a minimum 80 percent overall average. Transfer students require a minimum 80 percent cumulative average in all Brock courses and a minimum 80 percent overall average.
Students failing to return the honor chord will be charged a recovery fee.
