Computer Access Policy

The James A. Gibson Library at Brock University provides computing facilities and services to support the teaching, learning, research and administrative pursuits of Brock students, faculty, and staff.

Members of the public are entitled to access Internet resources beyond the University's local and licensed resources with a valid form of identification (please see below). Use of the computers in the James A. Gibson Library indicates acceptance of the University's Computer Use Policy (PDF).

Members of the Brock Community
The James A. Gibson Library at Brock University offers access to library resources and the Internet to all members of the Brock community: students, faculty, and staff. In order to use the public computers, Brock community users must possess a valid computer account, obtainable from Brock University's Information Technology Services (ITS) department, located in F314 in the Mackenzie Chown Complex. Users are responsible for all activity on their account, and are encouraged to log-off library workstations when finished.

Members of the Public
In order to maintain the security of the University network, members of the public will be issued a temporary account by a) using the Library's self-serve temporary account workstation with a valid North American driver's license; or b) bringing a valid international driver's license or passport to the Circulation Services desk.

This temporary account is valid until the end of the business day, and the holder is responsible for all activity on the account. Users are encouraged to keep the username and password secure, and to log-off library workstations when finished.
