Brock is committed to building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive community where our students, staff, faculty and visitors can work and learn in an environment that supports the academic mission of the University, adheres to University policies, and respects the dignity and worth of members of the Brock community.

The means through which we express ourselves as members of this community continue to evolve with the advent of technology. The University is supportive of these types of community, as they can greatly enhance the social and learning experiences for people working and studying at Brock. The use of such technologies comes with both rights and responsibilities.
 
Community members are reminded that:

• Images, postings, dialogues, and information about themselves or others posted on the internet (e.g. on social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook) are public information.
• Keep content accessible. Use plain language. Use alt tags for images. Provide information on wheelchair-accessible routes. Keep those with cognitive and physical accessibility issues in mind.
• Content that is brought to the attention of the University is subject to further investigation if and when it describes or documents behaviour that reasonably suggests breach of University policy including the:

  • Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy [2]
  • Respectful Work and Learning Environment Policy [3]
  • Academic Integrity Policy [4]
  • Acceptable Computer Use Policy [5]
• The University reserves the right to appropriately respond to these incidents, which may include disciplinary action.
