With post-graduate studies at the Lecoq International School for Physical Theatre, and 11 years in professional theatre in Mexico City, Glenys McQueen Fuentes’ theatre preferences are in experimental, physically-based, and international theatre forms. Ongoing research involves the use of movement and music as languages for the arts and education through Soundtrack Performance Group, which she co-directs with her composer husband, Rafael Fuentes. Significant recent projects include: many annual workshops and consultations (nationally and internationally) for conferences, school boards, PD days, Additional Qualifications in Drama in Education courses (Brock, OISE, York, etc.); completing a book entitled What if? Why not? Using movement as a language for teaching and learning. Significant future projects include: the dance/drama component of an upcoming Arts Project (Grades 1-8) for Rubicon Publishing Co., with experts David Booth and Larry Swartz (Drama) and Visual Artist Heather Miller; with colleague Helen Zdriluk, an upcoming educational survey on the importance of undergraduate instruction in Drama in Education in the development of drama teachers at all levels of the educational spectrum. This survey is supported by an HRI grant from Brock.
