1. The Humanities Research Institute's Annual Spring Symposium was held on April 30th, 2003 in the Dr. Charles A. Sankey Chamber. As Keynote Speaker, the Symposium featured Dr. Patricia Clements, Director of the Orlando Project at the University of Alberta, along with Sharon Balacz, spoke on "Creativity, Culture and Computing." Sharon Balacz, Electronic Textbase Manager for the Orlando Project, accompanied Dr. Clements and offered a session on "The Capabilities of the Orlando Project." The Symposium was organized by Dr. Marilyn Rose, Director of the HRI, and featured presentations by Brock Researchers in the Humanities who are currently using computers in innovative ways in Teaching and Research: Dr. Susan Spearey (English); Dr. Barry Joe (Director, Centre for Digital Humanities); Dr. Jean Bridge (Visual Arts); and Dr. Jeannette Sloniowski (Graduate Program in Popular Culture).
