Master’s and PHd students, as well as undergraduate students planning to move on to graduate school, are busy preparing applications for 2010 external graduate scholarship competitions.
The major funding agencies – SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR and OGS – annually award millions of dollars in funding packages based on the calibre of a student’s research and scholarship.
Brock’s undergraduate and graduate students have been very successful in the past. In 2009, 102 students received a combined total of $2.5 million in national and provincial awards and scholarships, the awards ranging in value from $15,000 to $50,000 per year.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies held a series of information workshops in September. Faculty and staff continue to assist students with the application process. The University internal vetting and adjudication committees begin meeting in November. Applications need to be ranked and finalized in order to meet a series of deadlines from November through to February.
