Getting to the Walker Complex
The Walker Complex is located at the west end of the campus.
Arriving by taxi or public transit:
If you are arriving by taxi, have them take you to the west entrance of the Walker Complex. Follow University Road West past the main entrance, and around the corner to the right, along the lacrosse field. The doors are on your right. There are accessible parking spots, and an accessible doorway at this entrance, and you will enter the Walker Complex on the lower level, near the equipment room, and at the same level as the locker rooms, pool and gymnasia.
Arriving by car:
Enter the Brock campus from St. David's road, exiting the traffic circle to drive towards the library tower. Turn left at the stop sign in before the tower at University Road West. Choose to turn left at the next stop sign to go to Lot D ($6/entry) or continue straight to Lot P (pay-and-display lot, $2.50 per hour). Accessible pay-and-display parking is provided in P Lot, accessible parking is provided in D Lot.
Support Persons & Service Animals
Service Animals are permitted. Support persons are permitted to attend any event or program provided by Recreation Services. Support persons are admitted free of charge to the pool to swim with you. Please let the cashier know that you require a support person. When you register for a program, please let the cashier know that you will be bringing a support person.
Several of our programs involving children have student volunteers who are matched with participants who may need extra assistance in the program. Please identify your requirement when registering for the program.
Accessible washrooms & showers
Located on the upper floor of the Walker Complex, a female accessible washroom (with power operated door) is located in the hallway directly behind the Welcome Desk. For males, an accessible washroom (with power operated door) is located in hallway at the west corner of Welcome Desk (hallway closest to the platform lift).
On the lower floor of the Walker Complex, female accessible washroom with an open doorway is located adjacent to locker room. A male accessible washroom with open doorway is located adjacent to locker room.
An accessible individual washroom (no power door operator) is located inside the Family Change Room.
An accessible shower stall, equipped with a movable bench and shower head is located in the female and male change rooms.
NEW! There is a change cubicle in the Family Change Room that has been designated with accessible priority signage. Persons with disabilities or their support persons who require use of this cubicle should politely indicate to other patrons, their need, if the cubicle is in use.
An accessible shower equipped with a movable bench and showerhead is located in the Family Change room. Bathers must wear a bathing suit when using the showers in the Family change room.
Elevator and Platform Lift
An elevator providing access to all floors in the Walker Complex is located beside the Zone in the atrium overlooking the Beddis gym. This elevator provides access to the lower floor, the Zone (main floor) and the Zone/track (upper floor).
A smaller platform lift (staff assisted) is located at the main stairs beside the Welcome Desk (lower level by the Cage). This platform lift does not provide access to the track. To obtain staff assistance, press the button in the yellow call box located beside the platform lift.
Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre
A lift is available to transfer persons with disabilities in and out of the pool. Trained aquatic supervisory staff will operate the lift. To request the use of the lift, please contact Debbie McCracken (firstname.lastname@example.org or 905-688-5550 x4089) one business day in advance if possible.
