The University Secretariat works to ensure that the governing bodies of the University, the Board of Trustees and Senate and their numerous committees, operate effectively and efficiently. The office manages, coordinates and facilitates the operation of the governing bodies and other various University and Presidential Advisory Committees in accordance with The Brock University Act, the Faculty Handbook, the General Bylaws of the Board of Trustees and other policies and procedures. The office serves as a resource for faculty and staff, departments, committees and boards to provide continuity and guidance related to the governance of the institution.
The Secretary to the University also has the role of University Privacy Commissioner with the primary responsibility for administering the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
Responsibilities include processing all formal requests for information received by the University under the legislation, providing education and training for employees, and developing policies, procedures and guidelines related to the ongoing implementation of FIPPA.
