Greg Finn was appointed to the position of Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic on September 1, 2007. He first joined Brock University in 1985 as a lecturer in the Department of Geological Sciences, and after completing his PhD at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1989, he was appointed Assistant Professor. He served as Chair of the Department of Earth Sciences from 1996-2002 and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science at Brock from 2003-2007.
Greg has a strong teaching and research record but has also been extremely active in department, faculty and university academic affairs during his time at Brock. His involvement in education issues outside the university environment includes serving as President of the Science Teachers' Association of Ontario. He has served as President of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (2008-9), and is currently serving as President of the Canadian Geoscience Standards Board (2008-) and President-Elect of the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists (2010-11).

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Vice-Provost functions as a member of the senior academic administration team, providing support, leadership and vision to the University in areas such as: undergraduate program coordination; undergraduate program development and delivery; undergraduate program evaluation; teaching, learning and educational technologies; faculty and student relations; and cooperative education.
