Choosing the Correct Application
Both Category A and Category B home-schooled applicants apply using the OUAC 105D application at www.ouac.on.ca [6]. Due the nature of home schooled applications, and the work involved in assessment, applications should be submitted no later than no later than the end of February.
 

Process for Applying
• Submit the OUAC 105 application form, with the appropriate fees.
• Submit all other documents as outlined below.
 

Required Documents

Each applicant is expected to provide:

Category A

•  An official transcript(s) including six final 4U or 4M grades,
•  OR an official transcript(s) including three final 4U or 4M grades and three mid-term grades,
•  OR an official transcript(s) including three final 4U or 4M grades and evidence of registration in three additional 4U or 4M credits
• a letter(s) attesting to a minimum of 40 hours of community service (or in the process of completing)
• a letter signed by the applicant attesting to the fact that the equivalent of grade 11 academic study was completed in a home schooled environment

Category B

• A transcript(s)** including final grade 11 courses and six final grade 12 senior academic grades,
  OR a transcript(s)** including final grade 11 courses and three final grade 12 senior academic grades and three mid-term grades,
• OR a transcript(s)** including final grade 11 courses and three final grade 12 senior academic grades and evidence of registration in three additional grade 12 senior academic courses
• A minimum of six course outlines showing learning expectations in distinct subject areas studied at the senior academic grade 12 level. If you are currently completing or have not yet started a course you must still send the course outline. You may not need to submit these if the courses are part of a standard curriculum such as Abeka, Saxon, or Apologia – contact the Admissions Office at admissions@brocku.ca [7].
• A satisfactory Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT 1) or ACT test result may be required at the discretion of the Admissions Director. If required, notification would be sent. Normally, minimum scores of 1650 on the SAT Reasoning Test (including Reading, Mathematics and Writing components), or 24 on the ACT. The test results must arrive directly from the testing agency.
• A signed letter attesting to the fact that the equivalent of grade 11 and 12 academic study was completed or is currently being completed in a home schooled environment.

**Each of the grade 11 and 12 courses on the transcript(s) should include:

1. the full name of the course (i.e. Apologia-Biology, Saxon-Calculus with Trigonometry, Abeka-Physics, etc.)
2. the name of the grade 12 Ontario curriculum course deemed as equivalent if not completed as part of a standard curriculum such as Saxon, Apologia, etc.
3. year level at which the subject is being taught (i.e. grade 11 or grade 12)
4. number of hours of instruction (i.e. credit value)
5. details regarding individuals who assessed or will provide a grade for each course (if not the parent).

Due to the varying academic preparation of Category B home schooled applicants the Admissions Director may request additional information beyond that outlined above. At the discretion of the Admissions Director Category B applicants may be asked to attend an interview.
 

Supplementary Document Submission

• Dramatic Arts applicants: successful participation in the DART Invitational
  Auditions must be booked directly with the relevant department ONLY AFTER you are in receipt of an offer of admission. Audition dates are indicated in the offer of admission letter. DART Invitational events are normally held in the third week of April and mid-May.
   
• Music applicants: successful participation in an audition
  Auditions must be booked directly with the relevant department ONLY AFTER you are in receipt of an offer of admission. Audition dates are indicated in the offer of admission letter. For details regarding the audition process and dates refer to www.brocku.ca/music/ [8].
   

General Admission Notes
Applicants can expect to receive an offer of admission to only one program. When more than one Brock program is indicated on the application, the highest choice listed for Brock will be considered first. If not eligible for the first choice, consideration will be given to subsequent choices in the order of preference the applicant has indicated. If an applicant applies to only one Brock program, and does not qualify, in most cases consideration will automatically be given for an alternate and related program.

Category B applicants normally are limited to General Studies – Social Sciences, General Studies – Humanities, or General Studies – Science during their first year of study.

Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Admissions decisions will only be made once all required documents are submitted; therefore Category B applicants should consider registering in and writing an SAT or ACT as early as possible during the application cycle (if required).

Applicants for whom English is a second language must submit evidence of English language proficiency.

It is the responsibility of all applicants to ensure that:

• all pertinent academic documentation is forwarded directly to the Office of the Registrar directly from the secondary school,
• proof of change of name (marriage certificate, notarized statement or other legal document) is provided if academic documents show a name other than that under which application is made,
• applicants withholding, misrepresenting or failing to provide information regarding previous university or college records are liable to have their admission revoked and registration cancelled.
