International and United States Application Steps

Brock University welcomes students from around the world, and encourages applications from a variety of academic backgrounds. International students applying for September entry may be considered for all academic programs, scholarships and guaranteed residence. Applications and all supporting documentation should be submitted no later than April 1 for international applicants and June 1 for U.S. applicants, as program availability cannot be guaranteed after this date. General Admission Notes
Applicants can expect to receive an offer of admission to only one program. When more than one Brock program is indicated on the application, the highest choice listed for Brock will be considered first. If not eligible for the first choice, consideration will be given to subsequent choices in the order of preference the applicant has indicated. If an applicant applies to only one Brock program, and does not qualify, in most cases consideration will automatically be given for an alternate and related program.

Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Admissions decisions will only be made once all required documents are submitted.

Applicants for whom English is a second language must submit evidence of English language Proficiency. This requirement will be included in the acknowledgement email that will be sent once we receive the application. An admissions decision will only be made once a successful test result, and all other required documentation has been submitted.

It is the responsibility of all applicants to ensure that:

• • all pertinent academic documentation is forwarded directly to the Office of the Registrar directly from the secondary school,
• • proof of change of name (marriage certificate, notarized statement or other legal document) is provided if academic documents show a name other than that under which application is made,
• • applicants withholding, misrepresenting or failing to provide information regarding previous university or college records are liable to have their admission revoked and registration cancelled.

Choosing the Correct Application
Ontario has a centralized Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) where all applications are processed and distributed to individual universities for assessment. Where you are currently studying, or have studied in the past will dictate which application you use. Process for applying:

1. Submit the 105F application form, with appropriate fees to OUAC (see OUAC for fee details).
2. Submit official transcripts showing secondary school, college or university results as appropriate. The official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution to Brock University, Office of the Registrar (Admissions).
3. Applicants for whom English is a second language must submit evidence of English language proficiency. Notarized copies of test results are NOT acceptable.

United States secondary school applicants:
American citizens currently attending a secondary school in the U.S., or graduates holding a secondary school diploma (and no post-secondary schooling) apply using the OUAC 105F application at www.ouac.on.ca [11].

Canadian citizens or permanent residents currently attending a secondary school in the U.S., or graduates holding a secondary school diploma (and no post-secondary schooling) apply using the OUAC 105D application at www.ouac.on.ca [11]

Conditional offers may be extended based on a combination of second or third quarter grades therefore it is in the best interest of applicants to have grades forwarded as soon as second quarter results are available.

Academic transcripts, SAT scores, school profiles (if available) and letters of recommendation from counsellors or teachers should be submitted as part of the application.

Secondary school/British patterned education/ International Baccalaureate:
International applicants currently attending a secondary school outside of Canada, or graduates holding a secondary school diploma (and no post-secondary schooling) apply using the OUAC 105F application at www.ouac.on.ca [11].

Canadian citizens or permanent residents currently attending a secondary school outside of Canada, or graduates holding a secondary school diploma (and no post-secondary schooling) apply using the OUAC 105D application at www.ouac.on.ca [11].

Conditional offers may be extended based on a combination of first-semester final grades and second-semester mid-term grades, therefore applicants should make every effort to have their secondary school send second semester mid-term results as soon as possible, or in the case of non-semestered schools, have mid-term grades forwarded. Applicants from British patterned schools or IB programs may submit predicted grades for consideration.

Advanced Placement (AP) applicants:
Applicants are required to submit AP results as part of a secondary school diploma. International secondary school applicants completing AP credits use the OUAC 105F application, while Canadian citizens or permanent residents should use the OUAC 105D application at www.ouac.on.ca [11].

Degree/diploma transfer applicants:
International applicants who are currently completing, or have graduated with, a degree or diploma from an internationally recognized institution of higher education outside of Canada, apply using the OUAC 105F application at www.ouac.on.ca [11].

Canadian citizens or permanent resident who are currently completing, or have graduated with, a degree or diploma from an internationally recognized institution of higher education outside of Canada, apply using the OUAC 105D application at www.ouac.on.ca [11].

IELP/Undergraduate Conditional applicants:
Any applicants who DO NOT meet our language requirements may apply for conditional entry to undergraduate studies via the IELP/Undergraduate Conditional Offer admissions process. Applicants may only apply via this route IF they meet the following conditions:

• DO NOT meet English language proficiency requirements
• Currently live outside of Canada
• Plan to study in Canada on a Study Permit.

Supplementary Document Submissions
Applicants to the Bachelor of Arts – Music, the Bachelor of Music, or the Bachelor of Arts – Dramatics Arts are expected to take part in an audition process. Auditions must be booked directly with the relevant department ONLY AFTER you are in receipt of an offer of admission. Audition details are included in the offer of admission letter.

Submit any letters/supporting documentation to be considered under the Special Admissions Policy directly to the Admissions Office. These documents should be submitted as early in the admission process as possible. Refer to the OUAC application for details.

Submit any other documents necessary as indicated on the acknowledgement email or letter that was sent to you after submission of your application.
