1. What are the rules and regulations for parking?

2. What are the procedures for loading/unloading in Residence?
Loading zones are used to load/unload materials from your vehicle. These are not to be used as parking spaces. Follow these simple procedures to ensure you do not receive a ticket:

 

3. Why is there a charge to park a vehicle at Brock University?
Parking Services is a self-supporting (auxiliary) department. As such, it receives no tax dollars or tuition fees to fund its operations. Revenues derived from parking fees are pledged to offset costs associated with the construction, maintenance, and administration of campus parking facilities and operations.
 

4. How much is a parking permit?
Parking rates vary across the campus. Please click here for parking rates.
 

Because not everyone that comes to campus with a permit is here at the same time, this permits us to sell more permits than there are spaces so that as many people as possible can access parking at Brock.  Under normal circumstances, everyone possessing a permit should have no problem finding a parking space.  Should lots become full, we make all efforts to redirect permit holders to alternate parking lots.  
 

6. Why is parking so expensive?
Parking is actually a bargain compared to charges at other universities across Ontario. Keep in mind that parking fees cover the costs of maintenance of parking lots (e.g. paving, snow plowing).
 

7. Why are violation fines so high?
The fines were set high at the suggestion of our Parking and Traffic Committee. The idea is to discourage people from risking a ticket and getting towed. Fines are self inflicted.
 

8. Where can my friend park if (s)he comes to visit me at my residence on the weekend?
Overnight permits are available from your residence facilities supervisor, or the Parking Services office. Overnight permits are not always available to all guests. These permits are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are expecting a guest, please pre-arrange parking at your earliest convenience.
 

9. How safe is the campus at night to walk to my vehicle?
There are a number of safety features in place around the University which include emergency phones and foot patrol. If you need assistance to your vehicle, please contact the Foot Patrol at 905-688-5550 x4591 or Campus Security at x4300.
 

10. What do I do if I need to unload something and need to park close to a building?
You should contact the Parking Services office at x4309 prior to unloading to find a location that is available. After unloading your vehicle, you should move your vehicle to the nearest lot. Unloading restrictions are usually 15 minutes in service vehicle areas. Any vehicle found in any reserved lot without permission will be ticketed and/or towed.
 

11. Why did my car get ticketed and the three beside me didn't?
Sometimes vehicles have obtained permission in advance to park in restricted areas. It may also be that enforcement personnel passed through the area prior to the noted individuals illegitimate parking activities.
 

12. My permit was lost or stolen. What should I do?
Report it to the Parking Services office immediately. There is a charge for a replacement permit.
 

13. What if all the special needs spaces are taken and I have a special needs permit?
You will have to park in another lot. If you are severely disabled and are unable to do this, we suggest you park in any non-reserved space and advise the Parking Services office. If you park in a reserved area, you will be ticketed.
