Is the reception area where visitors to Special Collections and Archives sign the register on arrival. In this room there are folios, fire insurance plans, books on religion and philosophy, family histories and some almanacs; various types of reading areas, and electric outlets for laptop users. Decorating the walls is an original oil painting of Arthur Schmon, head of the Brock University Founders' Committee, done by the renowned Canadian artist, Cleeve Horne, and on the north wall, a reproduction oil painting of Sir Isaac Brock by Philippa Abrahams, an original survey of Grantham Township 1823, showing the lands now belonging to the University.
The Workroom
Is where preservation work, repairs, arrangement and description, scheduling, and preparation for cataloguing and/or binding is carried out. There is an additional workstation and a microfilm reader-printer for users of Special Collections and Archives.

Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (unless otherwise posted)
Saturday - Sunday Closed

Services
Electrical outlets for laptops are available.
A microfilm reader-printer is located in the workroom.
Staff retrieve requested materials and may limit the number of items used at one time.
Photocopy cards may be purchased on the main floor.
Photo-reproduction, permission required.
Wheel chair accessible.
General Information
Special Collections and Archives users sign a register on arrival.
Food and beverages may not be brought into Special Collections and Archives.
Please turn off cell phones.
Gloves may be required for some materials. They will be provided.
Pencils are required for note taking.
Use of Materials
The materials do not circulate. They are available for consultation and research in the Special Collections reading room.
Photocopying
Photocopying is not always possible due to the fragility or value of some items.
Photocopying, when allowed, will require use of a photocopy card.
Same day service is not always possible.
Photocopying, or other reprography, is permitted only with advance approval from Special Collections and Archives staff.
Photocopy requisition forms are required for large amounts of copying.
Copies are 15 cents (letter size), or 20 cents (legal), or 25 cents (ledger).
