Louis Volante

Louis Volante is an Associate Professor in Assessment and Evaluation at the Faculty of Education, Brock University. Recently, He completed a longitudinal project "Exploring the development of assessment literacy: Implications for educational policy, capacity building, and professional practice" that was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). This research resulted in various publications in journals such as Policy Futures in Education, Assessment in Education, Action in Teacher Education, Journal of the International Society for Teacher Education, Journal of Educational Thought, Canadian Journal of Education, and the Canadian Journal of Educational Administration and Policy.

He has conducted evaluation studies of large-scale reform in Canada, England, and the United States. He also provides service to the broader educational community as a member of various editorial advisory boards such as Policy Futures in Education and the Canadian Journal of Educational Administration and Policy. He is a past recipient of the R.W.B. Jackson Award for the most outstanding English language journal article from the Canadian Educational Researchers' Association.

His teaching responsibilities at Brock University include the coordination of assessment and evaluation courses within the Initial Teacher Education Program. He also teaches the following graduate courses: Innovative Practices in Curriculum/Assessment; Curriculum Design, Implementation and Evaluation; and Introduction to Educational Research.
