Gail is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Brock University. Gail worked as a classroom teacher and Curriculum Coordinator for the Halton District School Board before joining the faculty at Brock University in 2003. She has been active in the field of FSL, new teacher induction programs, and Tribes Learning Communities for many years. Gail’s current research focuses on learning communities and the effects of Tribes training in a beginning-teacher-education program, investigating whether and how specific learning opportunities such as Tribes training can help teacher candidates to become highly effective teachers, and to create positive and engaging learning communities in their classrooms, during their practicum placements and their first years of teaching.
