Out of Province Student Loans

The Student Awards and Financial Aid Office works in partnership with all Canadian provinces and territories to deliver financial assistance programs for students pursuing post-secondary education. The processing guidelines vary from province-to-province, so be sure to carefully read instructions provided to you through your province or territory.

Many provinces will mail funding certificates directly to students. If you bring your student loan documents to the Student Awards and Financial Aid office, we can confirm your enrollment as a Brock student.

American Students

Brock University does not participate in the William D. Ford direct loan program for U.S. students, but Brock students are able to apply for Sallie Mae’s Smart Option Student Loan program. The Smart Option Loan is an extremely flexible funding vehicle – it allows students to choose between repayment terms to best suit their financial status during full time studies, and allows repayment at any time with no penalty attached.

To begin the process, and determine your eligibility, just head to the Sallie Mae website [13] and apply. The website also lists details on your repayment options, and on applicable interest rates for the program.

International Students

If you are an international student coming to Brock, you are not eligible for Canadian government-issued student loans, unless you have status in Canada as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person (Convention Refugee). As an international student, you may be able to access funding through your home country.
