Glen A. Selkirk

Dr. Selkirk’s current research examines the dynamic set of biological stressors associated with a firefighter’s harsh occupational environment. His work within the EEL is a novel program that transfers previous work in the lab to real-life emergency responses, using a multi-system approach that incorporates psychological (emotional/perceptual), physiological and biochemical indices. With an enhanced quantification and understanding of the body’s response to a stressful environment, current rehabilitation practices can be evaluated and new strategies developed to enhance firefighter health and safety.
