We understand that Facilities Management staff have been tweaking the temperature where they can during this unusual heat spell. The temperature still dips below 10 degrees Celsius at night and the University is required by law to maintain a minimum temperature. So, they cannot switch to cooling just yet. Due to the type of heating and cooling system that is used here, most buildings are not capable of heating and cooling during the same cycle. They are continuing to make us as comfortable as possible by bringing in cool fresh air into the areas that are normally cooled by the central chilling plant until night time heating is no longer required. Our best advice – dress appropriately. The two-week forecast starting Friday, March 23 is for colder temperatures.
