How Did They Get There?

An Alumni Panel 

Choosing a career path can be hard.  Come listen to Brock graduates talk about their personal education/ career paths and industry experience. Panelists will discuss industry trends and advise students on strategies for getting a job in their chosen field.

 

Panelists:

Neil Culp (BA '04, MBA '06)
HR Solutions Consultant, Niagara Region

Neil Culp is a Manager in the Human Resources division of the Niagara Region, working as a Strategic HR Business Partner for the Region's largest department. In this role, Neil is responsible for supporting the Senior Management Team, of the Community Services Department, for the development and execution of their HR Strategy, and consults with managers on daily HR operational issues of all varieties.

In the six years since earning his Masters in Business, Neil has worked in progressively senior HR roles in a number of industries, with most of his time focusing on Labour Relations within multi-union environments, Compensation Management and Human Capital Analytics. Neil has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, an MBA with a focus in Human Resource Management, and his Certified Human Resources Professional Designation. As well, Neil has been published in multiple academic peer reviewed journals, has been a part-time instructor for the past 5 years at the now Goodman School of Business, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Niagara Chapter of the Human Resources Professionals Association.
 

Michael Kemp (BBA '08)
Financial Security Advisor, Kemp Financial

Michael Kemp was born and raised in Niagara Falls.  In 2003, Michael left Canada to pursue a baseball scholarship in Virginia at George Mason University.  After dealing with a nagging shoulder injury for two years, he came back home and decided to finish his Business Degree with Brock University.  While at Brock, Michael was a member of the Men’s Varsity Basketball Team, who were fortunate enough to win the National Championship in 2008.  Upon graduation Michael left Niagara to take on a sales position with Cintas Canada in Toronto for 2 years.  In 2010, he came back to Niagara to help grow his family business. At Kemp Financial Group, their mission is to help young professionals, athletes, business owners, and families with their financial security; ensuring that they are building upon their financial future in the most productive and stable ways possible. Working in this industry allows Michael to build relationships with great people, watching their plan grow as they build and grow with it.  For Michael, it is so satisfying to know that one person can have such an impact on peoples’ lives on a daily and long term basis.


Sara Glover (BA ,09)
Prospect Researcher, Wilfred Laurier University

 

Sara Glover graduated from Brock University in 2009, with a BA Honours in History. During her time here, she was an active volunteer with Brock University Students’ Union, and held various on-campus jobs at Career Services, Student Services, and Recruitment and Liaison Services. Sara was the Volunteer & Clubs Coordinator for BUSU during 2009-2010, where she further developed her passion for the charitable sector. After her time at Brock, she completed Humber College’s Fundraising and Volunteer Management Graduate program. Following graduation, she began working as a Development Coordinator at Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s National Office in Toronto. Her portfolio consisted of Annual, Tribute Giving, Monthly Giving, Major Gifts, and Research. Recently, Sara was hired at Wilfrid Laurier University as a Prospect Researcher, and supports fundraising initiatives of the university. Sara has remained heavily involved with Shinerama, and continues to volunteer today as the National Shinerama Chair for the 2013-2015 term. Sara is a proud Brock Alumni, and volunteers with the Waterloo-Wellington Alumni Network.


Dave Mammoliti (BA '07)
Business Development Administrator, Executive Education, DeGroote School of Business

Dave is the Business Development Administrator in the Executive Education department at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business in Burlington. He is responsible for strategizing and implementing business development initiatives for executive level training while maintaining existing relationships between McMaster University, private sector and public sector organizations. Dave is also responsible for course curriculum administration, program promotion, resource management and financial management. A large portion of his position involves frequently attending networking events, tradeshows and conferences to create partnerships and inform executives on the training opportunities available for their organization.
Since graduating from Brock University in 2007, Dave completed a post-graduate certificate in Public Relations from Niagara College and is currently writing his Project Management Professional designation. Dave was hired at McMaster University in 2009 and has held positions in the Faculty of Health Sciences Marketing department and Faculty of Engineering Alumni Relations.
Dave frequently volunteers his time in the community as a Board of Director with the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association, is a member of the McMaster University United Way Campaign and is an alumni mentor for Brock University students.
