Student Life & Community Experience invites you to participate in Brock Cares - Alternative Reading Week: Niagara! We are coordinating a number of volunteer oppotunities throughout the Niagara Region to take place over Reading Week in October as a way for students to give back to their local community during their break from classes.
All Brock student and staff volunteers are invited to participate
Brock Cares - Alternative Reading Week, like our other Brock Cares initiatives, is a chance for Brock volunteers come together to contribute to the Niagara community by participating in service projects and volunteering at local not-for-profit agencies.
Brock Cares - Alternative Reading Week takes place every Reading Week (excluding the Thanksgiving and Family Day holidays). Our week in Niagara during October 2013 will begin on Tuesday, October 15 and wrapped up on Friday, October 18. When we hosted our last week of this type in February, 75 Brock student volunteers volunteered at 7 different project sites to work on a variety of projects including painting, helping with programming and planning, taking inventories and more! It was truly an amazing week, as it will be again this October!
You may sign up for one, two, three, or all four days of service! All volunteers must commit to attending the Pre-Week Meeting and are invited to take part in a Post-Week Celebration.
Please check back in early 2014 for more information on the February Alternative Reading Week program.
Volunteer projects take place at agencies and organizations within the Niagara Region who have identified a need within our community. Transportation is provided.
The goal of Brock Cares - Alternative Reading Week Niagara is to provide an opportunity for Brock students to give back to their community and make a difference.
