On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, Brock International welcomed current Visiting International Professors, Scholars and University Mentorship participants from around the world at the We Welcome the World Reception November 2011 . The event was organized to formally recognize new participants in the VIP, VIS, and UM programs at Brock. Scholars from prestigious universities in China, Germany, Pakistan, Korea, Japan, and Mexico were treated to a warm reception at the event held in the Pond Inlet.
The event was attended by senior University officials, Dr. Gary Libben, Vice-President of Research, and Dr. Murray Knuttila, Provost and Vice-President Academic, who both gave welcome speeches to international scholars. Scholars and their Brock host faculty who were present at the reception were presented with awards to formally recognize their valued participation and contribution to Brock University by Kim Meade, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President of Student Services, Dr. Murray Knuttila, and Sheila Young, Director (Brock International).
The scholars also enjoyed a trivia game called, "Guess The Country," where they are presented with photos from different countries on a slideshow and they have to guess the correct country the photo was taken in. The event was a good occasion for scholars to establish contacts with Brock faculty and fellow international scholars.
