Teacher Education Tuition & Related Fees

2012-2013 Fall/Winter

Tuition & Per Credit Ancillary Fees (subject to change)
Tuition fees are approved by the Brock University Board of Trustees, in accordance with the tuition policy set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The fee information is provided for illustrative purposes for typical situations. The actual fees assessed may vary from these schedules.

Tuition is assessed at differentiated rates between:

·         first and continuing year of study

·         "arts, science and other programs" and "professional undergraduate programs" (business and computer science)

·         domestic and international (visa) students 

 

(Teacher Education is a one-year, Arts & Science program and therefore only a single rate is provided for both Domestic and VISA students as neither continuing years of study nor program differentirals factor into the fee charged.)

**The Access Copyright Fee covers reproduction and distribution of copyright works which fall within Access Copyright's repertoire.  The fee allows Brock instructors to share these copyright materials with students in different ways, including digital copies on course websites, print course packs, library reserve and by email.
 

Sessional Ancillary Fees
These fees are assessed based on total registration during a session. Most ancillary fees are mandatory. These fees are governed by an Ancillary Fee Protocol established between the University and the
Brock University Students' Union [1].

Health Services Fee

Covers the operating costs of Student Health Services on Campus. Non-refundable.  Note: Students studying at the Hamilton Campus are considered off-campus and will not be charged the Health Services Fee

The following sessional ancillary fees administered by the Brock University Students' Union. Please contact BUSU [1] for further information.

Health Insurance

Extended medical coverage charged to domestic undergraduate students enrolled in 3.0 or more credits, as registered by September 21, 2012, and to International Students regardless of course load. Students with comparable coverage have the opportunity to opt out through the Student Health Plan website [2].

Dental Plan

Extended dental benefits charged to domestic undergraduate students enrolled in 3.0 or more credits, as registered by September 21, 2012, and to International Students regardless of course load. Students with comparable coverage have the opportunity to opt out through the Student Health Plan website [2].

Universal Transit Pass

Fee for the mandatory 8 month transit pass, valid with St. Catharines Transit, Welland Transit and Niagara Transit. Students in fewer than 1.5 credits are not granted a transit pass.  NOTE:  Students studying at the Hamilton Campus are considered off-campus and will not be charged for the Universal Bus Pass

Teacher Education Program Fee Notes:

1.       The normal credit load for the Teacher Education Program  is  6.0 credits.  Therefore the tuition and per credit ancillary fees for this credit load would be calculated as follows; 6 x $1,193.60 or $7,161.60 for Domestic students and 6 x $3,340.28 or $20,041.68 for International students.  To note, some streams of the Teacher Education Program (such as I/S (French Teachable) require you to take a larger per credit load, to calculate the tuition charge simply multiply the total credit weight of your registered courses by the applicable per credit amount listed above.

2.       Junior/Intermediate students with French as a teachable subject are required to take EDUC 8P13 in addition to the required Pre-service courses. 

3.       Intermediate/Senior Technological Studies students are required to take EDUC 9F24 and 9F25 in the preceding Summer session and will be charged the appropriate In-Service (Additional Qualification) fees.  Please consult the Inservice (AQ) Financial Services Student web page for the applicable fee.

4.       All applicable Sessional Ancillary fees noted above will be charged in addition to the per credit tuition/ancillary fees.  Those Teacher Education students who are based at our Hamilton Campus will be exempt from paying the Health Services fee as well as the Bus Pass fee.

5.       All Teacher Education students will be automatically charged  the following three program specific fees:

a.       Handbook Printing Fee                      $ 10.00

b.       Material/Administration Fee             $110.00

c.        Application to Graduate                    $ 40.00
