Research Interests

My recent research focuses on Socio-cultural and human aspects (especially women and children) of tourism development. My past research includes wine tourism, culinary tourism and agritourism in Ontario, Canada; Green Tourism in Oita, Japan; and cultural differences in perceptions of natural resources in tourism.

image/jpeg icon<b> How does tourism and environment relate to sustainability/ESRC? </b><br> Although sustainability needs to be looked at holistically, my research interests focus on human and social aspects of sustainability. The areas I consider important include: social justice, ethical/responsible behaviours of consumers, effects of globalisation on (tourism) development in developing nations, human rights issues, sustainable agriculture and (tourism) development and sustainable community development through tourism.
