Structure of Oral English:
The total number of points for this section is 100. A score of 80 or above indicates advanced ability in this area.

Reading Comprehension:
The total number of points for this section is 100. A score of 80 or above indicates advanced ability in this area.

Aural Comprehension:
The total number of points for this section is 200. A score of 160 or above indicates advanced ability in this area.

Writing Composition:
The total number of points for this test is 300. A score of 240 or above indicates advanced ability in this area.

Total Score and Recommendation:
The total score is the sum of the four section scores. As a practical reference, recommendations are based on English language proficiency requirements for admission to first-year study at Brock University.

A. Undergraduate Degree

• ITELP scores of 565 or greater with a minimum composition score of 240 will be considered for admission.

B. Teacher Education

• ITELP with a minimum score of 580, and a minimum composition score of 260.

C. TESL Certificate

• ITELP with a minimum score of 580, and a minimum composition score of 260.
  

Brock University reserves the right to request more information regarding English proficiency test score results. Students may be required to sit for the Brock International Test of English Language Proficiency (ITELP) at the University’s discretion.
