On Wednesday, October 13th, Galen Weston, Executive Chairman of Loblaw Companies Limited will be named the Brock University Faculty of Business’s 2010 Distinguished Leader.
The Distinguished Leader Lecture Series was established by the Faculty of Business to honour leaders from the business community and offer its students an opportunity to hear them speak in both an intimate classroom setting and at a formal lecture presentation.
“We are honoured to name Mr. Weston as this year’s Distinguished Leader,” said Philip Kitchen, Dean, Faculty of Business. “His value-based approach to business provides an excellent learning tool for our students and sets a positive example for responsible corporate culture. We are thrilled to have this opportunity for both our students and the Faculty of Business as a whole.”
Weston will meet with a small group of Faculty of Business student leaders and will also address the larger business student population.
Mr. Weston has been with Loblaw Companies for 11 years. Under his leadership, the company has under taken a renewal plan designed to ensure the long term growth and stability of the business. During that time Mr. Weston has overseen significant improvements in fresh foods, the strengthening and growth of the President’s Choice and No Name brands, the emergence of Joe Fresh Style as one of the country’s top fashion brands and the addition of T&T.
