Last Wednesday, in the Bob Davis Gymnasium, the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Anna Lathrop, welcomed over 850 first year Applied Health Science majors. On behalf of all faculty and staff, she welcomed new majors in the Departments of Community Health Sciences, Physical Education and Kinesiology, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sport Management, and Nursing.
Dr. Lathrop welcomed these majors into their respective programs of study, reminding them of the importance of becoming fully engaged in the academic and social aspects of university life. A number of faculty and also shared their 'tips' for academic success.
Dr. Lathrop also spoke of the importance of academic integrity and academic civility in all professional and social components of campus life. After this informal welcome, all majors attended program-specific breakout sessions, and then gathered again to all share a pizza lunch.
Everyone seemed energized and eager to greet the new term!
