Geospatial Data Services & Resources

Data services and resources are available to Brock students, faculty and staff in support of teaching, learning and research. The Map Library is responsible for acquiring and disseminating the geospatial data collection for campus-wide use. Here are some examples of using GIS in research [1].

What is "geospatial data"?

...map information in a digital format that is used with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other graphic software to view, analyze and design maps. View a list of geospatial data [2] that is available to all Brock affiliates.

...data consultation

  • An appointment with Map Library staff will assist in clarifying the geospatial data available for your research needs.

...data packaging

  • Knowledgable staff will clip and package data based on your study area.

...data conversion

  • Data formats can be translated from one format to another.

...custom mapping

  • After consulting with staff, a custom mapping project may be an option to assist with your research.

...in-class teaching/instruction

  • Customized instruction is offered for course-specific assignments or themes.

...hands-on workshops

  • General workshops are occasionally offered by Map Library staff on the use of GIS and geospatial data.
